Strengthening democratic coexistence in companies
Racism, conspiracy narratives and hostility towards disabled people are not uncommon in the world of work. The “Workplace Democratic Competence” project of the Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund DGB (German Trade Union Confederation) promotes democratic values in companies and strengthens employers, vocational school students and teachers in seminars, training sessions and courses so that they can stand up for non-discriminatory and democratic coexistence.
Explanatory films on group-related misanthropy
To support this work, flmh has designed, filmed and produced ten explanatory films on issues of group-based misanthropy. The topics include anti-black racism, anti-Semitism, hostility towards Muslims, hostility towards disabled people and sexism. The explanatory films were also played out in a social media campaign and flmh supported the initiative as a whole in its social media strategy.
Strongly opposed to prejudice
The target groups were particularly young people who are part of the “silent majority”. The aim is to empower them to speak out and strengthen their democratic skills in the workplace. The films, which were combined into a series entitled “meinungsstark” (“opinionated”), deal with stereotypes and doubts and provide young people with arguments against discriminatory, racist or conspiracy theory statements. The aim was not only to convey facts, but above all background knowledge that can be used to refute prejudices.
