Secured information on diversity

Scientifically sound information on gender diversity and sexual diversity is often difficult to understand for non-experts – or formulated in such banal terms that it is of little help. This is where the Rainbow Portal of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) came in: It clarified, informed and connected. As a broadly comprehensive reference work on LGBTIA* topics, it offered content on law, health and family, among other things. For political reasons, it was shut down on November 29, 2024.

Gathering knowledge from experts

In cooperation with the expert organisation ABqueer e.V., flmh was commissioned with the content conception, text creation and editorial support of the rainbow portal in 2017. It was clear from the outset that an information portal with such diverse target groups and extensive content needed to incorporate the knowledge of experts from the community and from academia. Accordingly, an advisory board and a panel of experts were appointed to advise and support the content.

Gender-inclusive and diverse representations

In total, more than 100 texts and videos were published, as well as a collection of materials and a contact point database that provided bundled access to existing online and offline resources. flmh organised events with the advisory board and the panel of experts, wrote texts, and produced videos. All content was available in five languages. When creating this content, flmh paid attention to gender-inclusive representations and illustrations to make the topic of diversity easier to understand and accessible for everyone.
