Outdoor exhibition on sustainable procurement

Municipalities have a key role to play in tackling global challenges. With an annual procurement volume of around 350 billion euros, cities and municipalities influence production conditions and human rights along the supply chains – not only locally, but also globally. For almost 25 years, Engagement Global: Servicestelle Kommunen in der Einen Welt SKEW (Engagement Global’s Service Agency Communities in One World) has been advising local authorities, municipalities and cities on all aspects of municipal development cooperation on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic cooperation and Development (BMZ). SKEW also finances and implements projects for municipalities in Germany and the Global South. The goal: to shape a sustainable world for all.

Whether fair trade or fair procurement: the commitment of municipalities plays an important role in creating a fairer world. flmh was commissioned to design outdoor exhibitions for various German municipalities. These were intended to invite citizens to participate in fair trade and global justice. The aim was not just to provide information, but to enable visitors to make personal connections to the opportunities and challenges of fair trade.

In close consultation with the participating municipalities, flmh developed the exhibition concept together with the architect Alberto Ribotis. The exhibitions are tailored to the respective municipality and feature a design developed by flmh. To ensure that as many visitors as possible can try out and use the outdoor exhibitions, they contain interactive elements suitable for children and adults, such as quiz boards or a supply chain labyrinth.
