Transparent evaluation results
GIZ, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (German Society for International Cooperation), sees itself as a learning organisation. However, in order to learn from both successes and mistakes, we need to know what impact our work has actually had: This is the task of GIZ’s Evaluation Unit. In a comprehensive, transparent process, it evaluates both corporate processes and individual projects every two years and communicates the findings of these evaluations to staff and the public.
Making results exciting
The results are published in an evaluation report. The challenge here is that reports of this kind are not necessarily exciting or easy to read. For this reason, flmh worked with the Evaluation Unit to develop its own internal and external presentation strategy for the 2022 evaluation report, which defined specific objectives and key messages for the various target groups.
Stylish and compact – the 2022 evaluation report
Based on this strategic realignment, a concept was developed for the 2022 evaluation report that is based on a narrative approach. The core of the concept was the desire to not only inform the target groups about the results of the evaluations – but also to clearly convey to them what the project was originally intended to achieve, which approaches were used, and which of these were successful. The 80-page report follows a clear, graphically elaborate design concept based on GIZ’s corporate design. It exists both as a print and a web version and was published in four languages in 2023.
